The Application of Narrative Therapy
on Students with Dyslexia in Hong Kong Primary Schools
Dyslexia, a common learning difficulty, affects the way children read, write, and spell, often leading to frustration and a sense of inadequacy. Traditional educational interventions, while helpful, sometimes fail to address the emotional and psychological challenges these students face. This is where narrative therapy steps in.
Narrative therapy, developed by Michael White and David Epston, focuses on empowering individuals to reshape their personal stories. By externalizing problems and re-authoring their narratives, students can develop a more positive self-identity and greater resilience.
In this talk, we will explore how narrative therapy can be applied in the context of Hong Kong primary schools to support students with dyslexia. We will discuss practical strategies, share success stories, and consider how this therapeutic approach can be integrated into existing educational frameworks to foster a more inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Join me as we embark on this journey of transforming challenges into stories of strength and possibility.
